Active Care Physiotherapy – Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do I need a doctor’s referral?

Physiotherapists are primary health care professionals, meaning you can go directly to a physiotherapist. You do not need a referral from your physician. However, insurance companies sometimes require a doctor’s referral before they will reimburse cost.

 

2. Will insurance cover my treatment?

Most insurance companies cover physiotherapy services however the only way to be sure is by contacting your plan administrator. If your treatment is required as the result of a motor vehicle accident or a W.S.I.B claim you may be covered.

 

3. Can you direct bill my insurance plan?

We direct bill for W.S.I.B. and motor vehicle accident claims. Depending on the insurance company we may have the ability to direct bill. Please contact our office and we would be happy to answer any specific inquiries.

 

4. Are you covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP)?

Our Ingersoll Clinic has been authorized by the Ministry of Health to provide O.H.I.P. funded physiotherapy. To find out if you meet eligibility criteria, please contact our Ingersoll Clinic.

 

5. What type of injuries do you treat?

Physiotherapists treat a broad range of conditions that affect musculoskeletal, circulatory, respiratory, and nervous systems. Injuries may be related to everyday activities, sport, surgery, work or motor vehicle accident.

 

6. How long will my recovery take?

Your physiotherapist will perform a detailed assessment of your condition on your initial assessment. Based on your problem and mutually developed goals your physiotherapist will make recommendations about the frequency and duration of treatment.

 

7. I have been referred to another physiotherapy clinic. Can I come to your clinic instead?

Yes. We accept referral slips from other clinics.

 

8. Do you have a waiting list?

Patients are booked in our clinic within 24-48 hrs.

 

9. How do you accept payment?

We accept payment by cash, credit, debit or cheque.

 

10. Do you offer other services apart from physiotherapy?
