Supporting your recovery: custom braces from ACPFebruary 17, 2020
- Stressed and anxious?
- Pregnancy aches and pains?
- Recovering from whiplash or other muscular damage?
Massage therapy is a highly effective, drug-free therapy that can help remove tension, give relief from chronic pain and restore movement. It is very popular with our clients in our Ingersoll clinic, so we’re delighted to now be able to offer it again at our London clinic in Byron Village with Registered Massage Therapist Jordana Uren.
Jordana is the latest addition to the Active Care Physio team, bringing ten years of experience as a massage therapist. She is highly experienced in pre and post natal health and wellness through massage therapy. She would love to help any London moms to be and those with newborns looking for relief from the inevitable pregnancy aches and pains.
- A prenatal massage helps relive discomfort by improving your circulation, reducing swelling in your legs and helping to ease lower back pain.
- A postnatal massage helps reduce the aches and tiredness resulting from childbirth, leaving you more relaxed and energized.
Massage therapy for athletes
She has a particular interest in sports injuries, and working with athletes to help with rehabilitation and restoration of movement. She has treated sportsmen and sports women ranging from pro and elite athletes to weekend warriors. So, if you have a niggling sport injury that just won’t go away, or have a damaged muscle from too many tumbles on the slopes, Jordana can help.
For those looking for treatment but who can’t take time off during the working day, Jordana will be offering Saturday massage therapy appointments.
What happens during a massage therapy session?
Massage therapy involves the therapist manipulating the soft tissue structure in your body such as muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments and connective tissue. A session with a fully trained Registered Massage Therapist such as Jordana will be less intrusive than other therapies involving manipulation, such as physiotherapy, osteopathy or chiropractic. That’s because massage therapy involves less manipulative movements and more concentration on how your muscle groups interact.
Massage therapy for tension and stress
Our modern lives can be very stressful, and our bodies can ‘store’ that tension in our muscles. Add in the physical strains of sitting for long periods, driving long distances, or slips on snow and ice, and it’s easy to see how muscular tension can build up over time. A relaxation massage helps relieve tense muscles and allows them to return to their normal tension, Our patients often say that a therapeutic massage therapy session also invokes a sense of wellbeing and emotional calmness.
